short for "marine boot", a very junior marine usually in transition from boot camp to MCT/ITB or fresh out of MCT/ITB and newly arrived at their new command, that run around screaming oorah, semper fi, and kill, completely fresh and clueless as to what the Marine Corps really is and are lost on how real marines actually act in the world, they are fairly entertaining to watch because they look like lost puppies wondering around doing their marute things an aternative spelling is "maroot"

Maruta 

1) Maruta translates into the Japanese word for wood or logs.

2) The name of a Hentai comic

3) (commonly) Mad Scientist slang for one or more non volunteer human subjects.

Due to the mad scientists at Unit 731 and their use of the word as a secret synonym for "non volunteer human subjects"

the word will usually refer to "human subject", rather than actual "wood" when it is spoken in an non Japanese non wood related context.
Especially after the film "Men Behind the Sun" in which there is a scene explaining the meaning of "maruta" to a group of young cadets who have not done their homework.

The secret synonym of "logs" was chosen due to the fact that Unit 731 and its operations at a point was disguised as a lumber-mill, plus that most of the experiments would involve cutting up the logs and that these would be put in the stove and burned at the end to dispose of the evidence.

So if a mad scientists conducting some unofficial research asks you to bring maruta, he/she will usually be disappointed if you show up with firewood.

In popular culture:

As with many other Unit 731 related words it is also the name of a band and several songs in the heavy metal, thrash metal and Grindcore genre

an adjective used to describe a person's state of being when they have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol or drugs. A person who is feeling high, rowdy and/or "gone" may be symptomatic of being marted.

*marted derives from the french word marteau, meaning "hammer"

morute 

An aesthetic popular on the social media website tumblr, typically consisting of photos with a light haze over them, angels, statues, pastel paintings, cemeteries, knives, dolls and/or doll parts, blood, and light gore. Morute encompasses a variety of styles, primary soft pastel and gothic/morbid with a chilling, mysterious vibe. The term 'morute' is an amalgamation of the words 'morbid' and 'cute', which defines the aesthetic.

The term was coined by tumblr blogger, 47cm, in early 2017.

Nicole Dollanganger, a singer who fits this aesthetic very well both lyrically and appearance-wise, is known to be one of the people whom had assisted in making this a popular aesthetic.
