The infielder tried to make a play on the ball but it bucknered through his legs.

This is usually associated with rapid, off target tangents referring to the speakers past, usually involving repeated allusions to time spent at a penitentiary, farm, or personal security business. It can also be loosely used to define a response to a question that in no way answers the question.
