Although some believe that "zoinks" was made popular on the Saturday cartoon show "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" (1969-1972), it was in fact popularized on "Batman" (1966-1968) as an exclamation of surprise or urgency. Scooby Doo obviously duplicated this nonsensical word in its television series that ran after Batman was cancelled.
Robin after hearing of danger: "Zoinks, Batman!" also used in Batman fight scenes where different sounds are flashed on the screen between blows.
Expression used, uttered, yelled or screamed when All Star right fielder Jayson Werth of the Philadelphia Philles, who looks like the character of Shaggy from Scooby Doo, makes a clutch hit or crushes a home run.
