Someone desperate to convince the world they are not a prude and dont care what anybody thinks, despite being pretentious and/or superficial.
The poser said he/she didnt care what anybody thought of him/her and that he/she wasnt a prude, but his/her actions showed someone who cared desperately about what people thought of him/her.

Get the Posermug. Someone portraying themself as something other than who they really are. A gang member is one kind of poser.
The poser girl took that kid's soccer ball/ basketball/football/baseball to the construction site to bait the guy.

Get the Posermug. Someone that claims to carry a pocket knife for protection/self defense instead of for the real reason they carry one, to look/sound/feel tough/strong/powerful.
The dorky poser with the glasses stabbed her boyfriend 16 times to have something to show for her not being the same chicken shit people knew her as when she was a kid, and thought that the jury wouldn't see right through her, and support her self-defense testimony. They knew she wasn't really the hardass she was portraying herself as, though she was a bully like any other.

Someone that tries to make himself/herself look subserviant or put upon to a wide audience/crowd (for the image he/she wants to show publicly to gain an army that will combat an enemy), even though behind the scenes a lot of people in their life have done a lot of things for them without having gotten paid or credited for, and haven't asked to get paid or credited for.
He/she lived his/her life as a poser and a coward, and would even admit to being a coward when a large crowd wasn't around since it wasn't an incriminating thing to say about himself/herself, but when a crowd/group/party/gathering that he/she had a reputation with was around, he/she was all of a sudden tough as nails, a walking stick of dynamite, or anything he/she claimed to be.
