When one is "throwing a stick", the puke exits their mouth with high velocity in a tiny stream resembling stick.

Throwing it back is whenever you ask someone a question, and they (annoyingly) ask you the same exact question in return.
These are all examples of "throwing it back":
“What are you talking about?”…”What are YOU talking about?”
“What are you thinking?” … “What are YOU thinking?”
“Where have you been?”…”Where have YOU been?”
Whenever this happens, my brain starts to hut and I feel like I’m doing some kind of Abbott and Costello routine. Obviously, when I say, “What do you mean?” – I mean “Can you explain yourself further?” So, whenever someone returns my “What do you mean?” with another “What do YOU mean?” I shut it down and say nope – you can’t just throw it back. And it stops the madness from ensuing.

Military bods use smoke grenades and shells to hide from enemies. In the urban environment, "throw smoke" means slip away un-noticed from a boring party or venue without saying goodbye.
