A central character in a story who who lacks the usual heroic qualities.

Deadpool is the ultimate Anti-hero. The Narrator from Fightclub is also a decent example.

un-hung hero

Usually refers to the offensive lineman on your favorite football team. A play on the term un-sung heros because they are generally fat, white and small of peter-along with getting little credit for their valiant efforts in the trenches.
