student: (getting bored and less paitent)
teacher: (shaking) uh, its where you explain a word's meaning???
student: hey, your smarter than you look, hardly anyone here knows the definition for definition
teacher: (exhausted) (phew that went better than I fought it would)

When a certain act or person represents a certain word perfectly. Needs to be used in context within a certain group of people who are familiar with each other’s mannerisms.
Can also be used as a substitute for nouns and adjectives where it is pretty clear what it is replacing.
