velociraptor

A genus of mongolian dromaeosaurid living about 80 million years ago during the late Cretaceous. It was a small and nimble creature about 6 feet long, bird-like in structure, with a narrow, flattened head and an enlarged "killing claw" on the second toe. The arms ended in three-fingered hands with flexible wrists that could be "folded" like those of a bird.

They were probably quite social as well, and there is also evidence to support that they were nasty to each other as well as their prey. An overwhelming piece of evidence suggests that Velociraptor preyed on the ceratopside Protoceratops, as one specimen was found gripping the head frill of the latter with it's foot claw in the creature's belly. The Protoceratops, in turn, was apparently biting the Velociraptor's arm with it's horny beak and ramming it's bony head into the raptor's chest. What calamity claimed the lives of both creatures is unknown.

Velociraptor, of course, was popularized by the Jurassic Park films and portrayed inaccurately. The so-called raptors in the films are much too big (Deinonychus-sized), would almost certainly have had feathers, and were not as fast as cheetahs or as smart as monkeys. Instead, raptors may have been about as smart as birds of prey.

Other Dromaeosaurid genera include Deinonychus, Dromaeosaurus, Utahraptor, Adasaurus, Variraptor, Megaraptor, Saurornitholestes, Sinornithosaurus, Bambiraptor, and Rhahonavis.
Velociraptor was one mean little SOB who could dish it out, but not take it.

vector

A quantity fully described with a magnititude and a direction.
Force is a vector quantity. To say 10N is not enough to fully describe force. To say 10N, right, is fully describing force.

The Jaws Vector

The progression of a horror film franchise that goes from being good and terrifying to comedic and/or downright awful the further the franchise goes with its sequels, especially when the franchise is trying to stay within the horror genre. This term was inspired by the Jaws films, where the first film was genuinely scary and very suspenseful. Its sequel, Jaws 2, came off as mediocre and just not as good as its predecessor. This downward spiral continued with the release of Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge, where the latter film earned the lowest amount of money in the franchise and is considered to be one of the worst movies ever made. Other franchises like Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th have followed a somewhat similar progression.
"Did you see how bad Jason X was?"

"Yeah, these recent sequels don't look like they're getting any better. The whole franchise seems like it's stuck in The Jaws Vector."

Vectorman

1) A green robot composed of orbs bound by some invisible energy field. He was left in charge of a sludge barge that delivers radioactive sludge to the sun, when humanity left Earth, hoping to return after robots (or in this case, Orbots) cleaned up all the pollution they left behind. Being the only orbot in space when a nuclear warhead was attached to the orbot leader, Vectorman was unaffected by WarHead's mind-control and returned to find a world of orbots serving their new evil master, WarHead, who planned to doom humanity upon their return. Vectorman did not rest until he had defeated all the evil orbots produced by WarHead, and in the end, WarHead himself. Vectorman's second great exploit was freeing earth of an evil race of insectoid creatures that had invaded during another barge delivery trip.

2) A video game for the Sega Genisis featuring the orbot, followed by vectorman 2. Created by Blue Sky, this was a brilliant new shooter-style platformer that combined several game play types and creative enemies and stages to make a masterpeice that will not soon be forgotten. A more recent attempt to make a remake of vectorman for the PS2 was done by Pseudo Interactive, but it was not well received by fans of the original style of the first vecorman games, and was cancelled before hitting the shelves. Personally, the game looked pretty awesome to me, and it probably wouldn't have bothered fans of the original if they had called it something other than vectorman and made a new game of it. The thing that was dissapointing about it was the unnoriginal level and enemy styles (and that of the new and "improved" Vectorman, himself), which I beleive would have soon been remedied as the preview seen by most fans was of an early version of the game, not necesarrily including all the artwork and fine touches of a finished game.
1) "Vectorman lands his space barge after delivering a load of sludge to the sun. Unhindered by evil mind control, he will not rest untill WarHead is defeated and the Earth is again free."(Vectorman Intro 4)
2) Get out your Sega Genesis, plug it in, blow the dust out of your Vectorman cartridge, and get ready to play a classic shooter game!
