Conversation Transfer Effect

When two or more people are having a conversation and something is said that when taken out of context makes absolutely no sense, and a seperate person or group hears that particular phrase. This can result in a multitude of reactions from the group that overheard the conversation with the standard "What the hell are you talking about?!" being most common.

Guy 1 talking to his friends: Dude I had the wierdest dream last night, I was naked riding through the supermarket on a unicorn with Justin Bieber.

Guy 2 who overheard them: WTF are you talking about, all I heard was naked with Justin Bieber?!

Guy 1: sorry, it was the conversation transfer effect, I was talking about a dream.

Conversation Trap

Bumping into someone you want to avoid that ends up with them leading you into a lengthy conversation that you can't escape. It's a very subtle guilt trip. You awkwardly feel obligated to keep on listening to them, knowing well if you attempt to cut it short, you'll come off as some sort of inconsiderate asshole.

"I was just about to get on the elevator when I bumped into Gabby. I knew I've just stepped into a conversation trap. For 30 agonizing minutes she was bragging to me with her annoying voice about all her nieces' and nephews' accomplishments in grade school. GOD! I wish I had some Q-Tips so I can fucking punch them into my eardrums. At least I'd have an an excuse not to listen to her."

Conversation Starter

A question or topic that creates a dialogue between two or more people. These 'starters' are some of the most elusive and hard to think of bastards on the face of the Earth, and without them one is left with awkward silence. A lack of starters is common at the beginning of a relationship, when speaking to someone not entirely familiar to the speaker, or when conversing with any female.

Guy: Hey what's up?
Girl: Nothin' much....
(awkward silence)
Girl: Well, see ya later......
Guy's totally deprived penis: Blast! why couldn't i think of a conversation starter?
