Get the I like pasta mug.A common phrase in the early twentieth century meaning someone who is all over the place whether literally traveling or whose mind is scattered. (See P.G. Wodehouse and Dorothy L. Sayers works.) The saying comes from the bird of the same name which is a wading bird with a drumming display flight. The phrase “like a snipe” evolved over the next 100 years to mean any number of things that are sneaky i.e. long-range sharp shooters and/or girls on the make, or anyone who takes advantage of others in a either a mean or sneaky way.
