Skillcap(skillcapacity) is a term used to
define the amount of mastery you can have in or with something. The term is usually used in
video games to differentiate between simple characters and complicated characters. Note that skillcap does NOT mean difficulty. Something can be incredibly
easy and straightforward yet have a very high skillcap.
Example 1
Person 1: Checkers is such a simple game. Why would you ever want to spend your
time playing something so boring?
Person 2: While it may be a simple game, mastering it takes a very long
time and the difference between an amateur
player and a master
player is very
big. Checkers is a highskillcap game.
Example 2
Person 1: OMFG Riven is such a low skillcap champion! All you need to do is bang your head on the keyboard and you win!
Person 2: Even though that actually works sometimes, this person has been closely watching your movements and perfectly anticipated your attacks, while flicking his mouse all over the screen and simultaneously pressing his buttons at exactly the right
time. That probably took a lot of practice to pull off, so Riven must have a high skillcap.
