Tone of Text

The tone of a text message. This tone is FREQUENTLY misunderstood due to the lack of words and emotions, as is the nature of text messaging. Tone of Text can cause serious problems in a relationship.

Using the term "whatever" may be meant as "I don't care", "you decide", "I'm open". The receiver of that text message "whatever" can't hear your tone of voice and might assume you are being sarcastic or flippant or just plain rude, causing a Tone of Text misunderstanding.

When you're texting someone, and you've been texting for so long that you eventually run out of things to say.

Jordan: 'Hey Vivian, what're you up to?'

Vivian: 'Oh, I was texting Jenni, but I think we've reached a text-end.'

Sleep Texting

when you send a text to someone while your either sleepy, awoken from sleep, or just plain not paying attention, and it makes absolutly no sense what so ever.

Erik: Hey man, you going to that party this weekend?

Zach: No man, I don't want a chocolate sunday.

Erik: Wtf?

Zach: Oh sorry man. I fell asleep last night. I must have been sleep texting you XD.

A flirty text message that is perceived inaccurately by its recipient resulting in a cease of communication.

Jeff had been flirting all day with Beth through text messages until she misunderstood his humor and never replied. The last text he sent turned out to be a death text.

noun/verb; the act of writing and sending disparaging, angry or otherwise hostile text messages, often occurring in rapid succession.

I had an argument with my boy, now he won't stop hate-texting me.

A reply to a text that is simply a 'K', especially if your text was an entire sentence

You: "I'm giving birth! Quick call the medics for me I used up all my minutes!!"
Johnny Texter: "k"

You: "A long elaborate well thought out text"

text-mail

a text message that clearly shouldve been an email, by exceeding the amount of characters in a standard text message (160 characters). Hence, wasting your time by having to piece together 2+ messages to make sense.

can also occur when someone starts the text off as an advertisment and ends with something along the lines of their life story

Sender: ...theres a sale at my work right now coz the boss is away... dont tell the boss... omg when i was working yesterday i heard this song that reminded me of this time we hung out at the beach, and i met that guy who i thought was really nice and he was for like a month and then he turned out to be a jerk...

Reciever: uhm, what? she couldve sent me an email! i hate getting text-mail ugh.
