doing harakiri

the act of committing suicide (but not as the name suggests, harakiri, the actual Japanese ritual of suicide by disembowelment often used historically by the samurai).
son: why are so many people nowadays doing harakiri?

father: Adrian, G-d only knows why people commit such an irrational act. It's probably because they've reached a point in their existence where they can't find life's meaning even in a religious setting. There's always hope even in the secular setting, by getting a social worker or psychotherapist. You can always pull the roasted chestnuts out of the fire no matter how dire the situation seems to be.

son: so, what do we tell a person about to commit suicide? "don't burn your bridges"? and that they should stop rejecting the help that they deserve?

father: yup.

Do the Mariusz

To stay silent during a group call pretending the microphone doesn’t work so as to avoid uncomfortable questions.
This is Julian’s business - Julian, i see you are on the line, can you hear me. Come on, don’t do the Mariusz.

I have been trying to get an answer from him all day during our WebEx meeting but he was not answering despite everyone could clearly see he was on the call: he was clearly doing the Mariusz.
