Vancouver summer does not match the classic definition so it would be more accurate to call it Sprautumn. To experience Summer, extensive travel is often necessary to regions such as the interior, prairies and southern ON, where summer lasts for several months.

Most of these people kept their jobs in Portland and continue to commute daily to work, while their families enjoyed a safer, more affordable quality of life. This has cause friction between the two cities. Some Portlanders may lash out at Vancouver because it is in Washington State and not considered part of Portland. More significantly, Portland is not Seattle, this causes much resentment to people from Portland (a.k.a. Lesser Seattle), who desperately want to be seen as a significant and important city, but failed to realize that they are just a second tier regional service center.
