I learned that this phrase came at a time when Bill Gates was introducing the first version of Microsoft Office. In fact he first said "Excel to your mother" but that did not catch on. He did try "PowerPoint to your mother" but that was a dismal failure. The change to "Word to your mother" somehow caught on and when a friend asked him about word processing because the friend's mom was behind the times as a secretary and needed help.
When asked what should I buy mom for Christmas. My dad said "WORD TO YOUR MOTHER" It did not work out really well because she did not have a computer.

Somewhere between good and bad. Used to describe people situations that are "solid," "ok" or "alright."
Hey what did you think of that party last night?
I had mixed feelings, but overall I thought it was adequate, and perhaps even above average.
Yeah, it was pretty word.

boy, in an argument with his father:
boy: dad, sorry, I'll skip dinner tonight and (...)
father: (...) finish your chemistry and physics projects you are working on with your girlfriend Melissa? That sure would be nice.
boy: kodem koll, dad, stop putting words in the horse's mouth, it's rude. And FYI it's actually Spanish and Latin homework I was going to work on. I'll work on the chemistry and physics later, and with my friend Brandon, not my girlfriend Melissa.

Word a part of a universal language used in certain circumstances to make a point that's truthful for momentary situations. Also to show friendship in a caring way hence sometimes used for sympathetic needs for humans that are troubled. For example "Man I just got my girlfriend pregnant my wife is gonna throw me under the bus when she finds out! Friend says really ? Man says sadly WORD! Friend says you gonna be paying child support or be locked up! Man say no way I'm gonna dip! Friend says really? Man says for real WORD up!Friend says dude I don't have nothing to say not " even a word"!!!
Hey bro Word up! Ok I'm good but I just wreaked my bike bro says really ? Other bro say you will be ok ! Bro says Word!
