Metal that tries to seem tough or brutal but cant raise above topics: like breaking up with their girlfriend/boyfriend, their mean parents, or crying about a dead girlfriend/boyfriend, vampires, or depression. These bands generally only bring down the genres they are in.
Ways to spot a chick metal band
They often wear tight pants
Have long or stupid looking hair (I have no problem with bands with long hair that are actually good)
The band looks gay
All their fans are ages 12-15
97% of their fans are chicks (the other 3% is gay)
Very shitty vocals.

Cyber metal is a form of heavy metal somewhere in a continuum between post-thrash (groove metal) and industrial metal. Generally speaking, it utilizes the pummeling guitar sound of thrash music but complements it wish harsh industrial-styled electronics. Riffs range from thrash-like to groove-like, and often probe the prog metal realm with technical staccato riffs referred to as "jackhammer".
Cyber metal can be easily distinguished from industrial metal because the latter tends to utilize very artificial, digital sounding guitars. While cyber metal does sometimes incorporate more industrial-esque beats ranging from dance to hip-hop in style, as a whole the rhythms are inspired by traditional metal.
Lyrical themes range from the heavily political to science-fiction. Note that the science fiction is of a darker, more realistic tone than the comic book schlock of power metal.
Key examples of cyber metal are Fear Factory, Obliveon, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, Voivod, and early Circle of Dust before they went industrial.

Digifuck Nihilex are a new cyber metal band from Norway. Known for their heavily processed vocals, 9 string guitars, and the 143/12 time signature drummer Nils Sjøbjørn invented, DfN are taking the scene by storm.

An excellent animated movie based on the Magazine. The original far outshines it's sequel, Heavy Metal 2000.

Those stupid wannabe-goth kids that wear huge bodnage pants, heavy chains, shirts that say crap like "I hear voices.. and they don't like you", layers of cheap plastic jewelry, never take showers, and sometimes wear beanies or backwards baseball caps. They hang out at the mall 24/7 usually at Hot Topic, Spencer's, or the arcade. They are extremely loud and obnoxious, and very desperate for attention. They listen to awful music like Insane Clown Posse, Slipknot, Korn, and Rage Against the Machine. Mall metal boys will bang anything that's alive, and think they are such pimps when only dorks and other Mall Metals like them.

I've heard people give this genre a lot of crap, saying the GLAM part stands for "Gay L.A. Metal". To be fair, glam metal has some of the most wicked solos in metal. It's just too bad that gets overshadowed by the cheesy lyrics and the garish costumes.
There aren't many deep songs in glam metal. I personally can only stand it when i'm driving around somewhere. If you're in the mood to listen about sex and drugs, then go for this.
Anyway to all the people calling it homosexual...well I agree with one of the previous posters on here. The guys in these glam metal bands probably got laid hundreds of more times than you ever will. And look up some of the lead singers bios. They've dated some of the most beautuful women in the world. And you call that gay?
Sure you can bash someone for their horrible style, but calling them gay for it, makes you an asshat.
On a side note:
Motley Crue, Van halen, Poison, and Whitesnake are some of the more famous glam metal bands.

1. A really sweet Slayer song. IT is arguably the best song off their first album "Show no Mercy".
2. A type of gun
