Online and in real life, people often make up their own catchphrases to react to confusing or ridiculous moments. For example, when someone asks a really strange question or does something that doesn’t make sense, you might want a quick, funny way to respond.

My friend started barking during class, and I was just like, “What the tism?”

Someone put mustard on a brownie at lunch — what the tism was that?

He texted me at 3 a.m. asking if fish have feelings… what the tism, bro.

The teacher tripped over nothing, and everyone froze — what the tism just happened?

I saw two kids arguing over who invented water, and I’m like, “What the tism man”

Used by mostly middle schoolers, primarily ones who have fallen victim to the "sigma" male, Andrew Tate, and Ohio trends as a counter-argument for someone promoting an opposing topic. (i.e. LGBT rights, Atheism etc.)

It is commonly used as a last resort whenever these people run out of valid arguments.
