People associate popcorn with watching movies. Movies are known for being entertaining. A toxic internet thread is known for, again, being very toxic. So toxic, that reading it is like watching a movie, because both are entertaining. Just like what you do while watching a movie, you read a toxic thread, with popcorn. Popcorn comes from either a microwave, or a popcorn machine. Hence, the Popcorn Machine slang.

Popcorn comments are two or more people having a really dumb discussion which in reality you dont care about but their arguments are so dumb you just need to get out the popcorn. Often found on reddit, but can also be found elsewhere.

An agitated popcorn is what we today call, an adhd, but one one is agitated,
So, if you get a bag of popcorn, at the bottom of of bag are the brain-deads, the corns that don't pop, the buttery ones are the normals which are 85% of population, then the ones that keep popping after the bags told you no no dont bro when you hear 1-2 pops a second, they are the batch of agitated popcorns, cause they will just keep popping till the batch is just fucking burnt... making an OCD unable to make their their popcorn due to they must complete task, resulting in burning and setting fire to the microwave because of those agitated popcorn...

A nice way to say stop talking especially if you’re beating a point to death. It’s like a safeword for too much talking about a subject matter or too much talking in general. Just like popcorn which burns easy after 2 min, good conversations need a safe way out of they are going too long but need to not be rushed either
