Hype Effect

An effect which occurs when one is anticipating an upcoming game. The need becomes so great that other games become dull and boring in comparison. In more serious cases it can affect the viewing of television programmes, making them seem less interesting as well. In the most severe cases it can affect the viewing of pornography in the same way.
The hype effect is kicking in. Nothing is fun anymore. Not Netflix, not even Pokémon. I can't go on like this.

Wilshaw Effect

The "Wilshaw Effect" is a term coined to describe the cumulative and adverse impact on cognitive function, morale, and decision-making resulting from prolonged exposure and proximity to the phenomenon known as the "Wilshaw."

Similar to radiation exposure, this effect is particularly potent in hot, arid, sandy regions. Suspected to also negatively influence intangible aspects such as Peace, Love, and Happiness, the Wilshaw Effect necessitates individuals to distance themselves indefinitely from the source of the Wilshaw in order to mitigate its deleterious consequences. The only recognized remedy for the Wilshaw Effect is the removal of oneself from the prevailing influence, acknowledging its potential long-term consequences on various aspects of well-being.
Mike: "Goddamnit, what happened to this place!!! It's barely functioning and people keep leaving. This project is falling apart!"
Steve: "I believe that's the Wilshaw Effect. We could do something about it but then the project wouldn't be ohhhh so fucking profitable."

The Commodore Effect

Going to your mates house for a few too many, passing out then waking up at 4:15 in the morning, realising you have to get up for work at 6 and going home. Skulling back half a litre of milk and having a tactical nap before work.
Usually not speaking from experience or anything.
Wow, did you see frogface last night? He had the commodore effect! What a legend.
