Sac raise

Sacrifice raise. In MMOs when a DPS who can raise resurrects a healer and then immediately dies from a mechanic. Used in games such as Final Fantasy XIV Online and WoW.

Derived from the term 'sac fly' in Baseball.

Red Mage: That beam just killed me right after I raised the healer
Healer: Thanks for the sac raise, red mage.

Chess slang word, abbreviation of word "Sacrifice".

In chess, a sacrifice usually means a move that gives up a piece with the objective of gaining tactical or positional compensation, maybe even straight checkmating the opponent. Also, often used while capturing a piece of a lower value with a stronger piece, especially a Queen.
