a tattoo that is self-referential, introspective and is a comment on the very nature of a tattoo itself, in a way also becoming existentialist. inspired by a meta joke.

a tattoo that says "skin deep" could be a meta tattoo because the tattoo references itself by being literally skin deep. while to somebody else, it could be a reminder to have a thick skin and not take things to heart.

The Pepperoni Tattoo is similar to a Mushroom Tattoo. It involves a woman, preferably with leathery breasts, slapping a man across the face with her nipple and leaving a "Pepperoni Tattoo"

Typically this is done when a rather dominant woman wants to mark her territory.

When Tom was asked why he had a large circular bruise on his forehead he replied "I was getting into it with an old biker chick when she whipped out her titty and slapped me in the face!"
