The act of an individual, usually alone in an office cubicle, complaining at a volume just loud enough for nearby cube-dwellers to hear, and hopefully get some sympathy or attention. The words used for the complaints usually solicit the sympathy.

"This is unbelievable, just unbelievable." John, quit your smuttering, I don't care.

Usually when food is scarce and a older relative is still hanging around, healthily consuming valuable resources.
