Hyper-Individualist Fallacy

The mistaken belief that individuals can be understood, evaluated, or held responsible entirely independently of their social context, relationships, and systems. This fallacy ignores that no one is an island—that choices are shaped by circumstances, that success depends on luck and privilege, that failure is often systemic rather than personal. The hyper-individualist fallacy is beloved of meritocracy myth-makers, bootstrap-pullers, and anyone who wants to ignore structural inequality. It's the logic of "if I made it, anyone can," ignoring that "I" had advantages they don't see. The fallacy allows its holders to blame the poor for poverty and credit themselves for success, both with equal injustice.

Hyper-Individualist Fallacy Example: "He attributed his success entirely to hard work, ignoring the family wealth that paid for college, the connections that got him jobs, the luck that put him in the right place at the right time. The hyper-individualist fallacy let him see only himself, not the system that supported him. His advice to others—'just work harder'—was sincere, sincere and wrong."

Open Individualism

The idea that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. It's contrasted with Closed Individualism and Empty Individualism, 2 other philosophies of personal identity. Closed Individualism is the standard common sense view of identity where "you" start existing when you're born, and stop existing when you die. "You" are essentially a line or line segment existing throughout time. Empty Individualism is the idea that you only exist for a single moment. Every moment you die, and a new consciousness arises in your body to take its place, thinking they're you. Buddhists have a similar philosophy called anattā about the existence of the self. Andy Weir's short story The Egg also has similar ideas.

Neo-Rugged Individualism

the belief in one's own talents, work ethic, abilities, and savvy to accumulate wealth and forge a life of wealth, prosperity, and happiness no matter what the tax burden from the local, state, or federal government.

Phil's "neo-rugged individualism" reminds him to look to himself to develop new marketable skills and knowledge to accumulate wealth and stop looking to the government for a handout in the form of a tax break.

Justin B Lewis: Theory in Individualism

Individual personality in the closest mathematical phrase for its explanation due to forever changing behavior in part to the ability to ration w ones self is, E=mc² / 2. This is also in part to NOT being able to be in an exact spot at the same exact time bc of the infinite possibilities of here to there, so no matter how much any two are alike, the difference in space and time, will always produce a large enough difference that it will present itself at surface of its host.
