Originally a racial slur, the term "nigga" ,branched off from nigger or negro, has become a way too address another person as a nickname from a black person. It can substitute "dude" or "man" in casual sentence to a homeboy.

Get the Niggamug. A word normally used by black (doesn't have to be African) people when greeting each other. Basically considered racist if a white person said the word even though its just a greeting from him too.
My dad is African American, however he can be hurt by saying "whats up my nigga" due to him being white. On the other hand, black people that aren't from Africa can say that phrase as much as they want.
