Rhymesult

Rhyme + insult. An insult based not on characteristics of a person, place or thing but on rhyme. An example is the term Seppo. The term seppo is a shortened version of "septic tank" a derogatory term for Americans used by the British. The origin of the insult is rhyme (Septic tank = Yank) with the longstanding term Yank used to refer to Americans.

Seppo makes no sense unless you know it started out as a rhymesult.

A tongue-in-cheek pejorative referring to residents of Rhode Island, sometimes used in a derogatory manner depending on in-group or out-group context.
