THE REAL DEFENITION
THE MUSIC- emotive hardcore- was an offshoot of hardcore music charegterised by lyrics with deeper darker emotions/ topics. People who enjoyed this genere of music were called Emos
THE LIFESTYLE- Today we have people who call themselves emo- The music created the emo lifestyle- thus emo kids Emos are people who listen to emotive music and embrace a specific style- Usualy envolving- wearing all black/darker colors- side swept hair over 1 eye- Heavy eyeliner- and expresion via music writing songs poetry ect. There are no specific guide lines to emo.

1-All emos cut/ self mutilate?
Not all emos cut- there are always crazies in the mix but not all emos cut themselves- cuting has nothing to do with emo
2-Emos are always sad?
Emos are usualy more sensetive than average and express their emotions in their own way. But emos are not always sad Hapyness is an emotion 2 Emos can smile laugh and have a good time like evrybody else Most are just shy
3-Emos are all just posers seeking atention?
Emo is a steriotype- people runing around showing you their cuts, crying, saying "im so emo" Are posers trying to fit a steriotype to be cool But there are people "Real emos" who live the lifestyle, love the music, and expres their emotions bechause its who they are the way they are these people are not posers- they dont try to be anything other than themselves and are great people/ loyal frends

I need to cut her name into my soul so when i hang myself later she will see what a horible person she was for breaking up with me.... i will write about her in my suicide notes- and tell all the people i hate how much i hated them! like how my parents made my life miserable by trying to make me happy!!! im so emo. DX

Get the emo mug.Something that too many bias bastards should shut the fuck up about! I's whatever you want it to be! It's a lifestyle that doesn't have to include cutting or black hair. You just need to be yourself and act however you want to be. It's a stupid clique that no one should care about! Everyone is equal to the emos! No one is better and no one is worse! Everyone is the same!
I'm an Emo and I have manic depression! But I dress fucking weird!!! Bright clothes and dark clothes!!! Who fucking cares!!!! I'm emo in my own definition!!!!!

Emo it's defining not only an attitude, but also a fashion that are coming from emocore (emo music). Emocore is a combination between hardcore and punk music which was very popular in Washington DC in the late 80's. The emo culture continued to develop between '90 and '00, reaching the height of its popularity today. Emo is also a popular type of fashion now a days.
The society thinks emos are failures; they are not strong enough to hide their emotions.
You don't have to be emo to listen to punk/hardcore/post hardcore music.
Also having black hair (natural or dyed) can't label you as an emo (unless you want to). Emo is used as an insult these days to label people with high emotions and/or people who wears black clothes.
Emo is not as bad as the society sees them. Why would people discriminate or judge emos when they have done nothing wrong to the society but all they have done is having their hair painted/naturally black, listening to rock/punk/hardcore music, or wearing black clothes.
People shouldn't be judging anyone just because of what they do or just because of the music they listen to. Everyone has different tastes and no one should be discriminating others just because of those reasons.
