Get the Emomug. Emo can mean a lot of things, & as with any label, it is just one word trying to desribe something much bigger, so it's not strictly one thing or another, & it's meaning changes over time.
Originaly, emo was a music scene in the 90s & short for "emotive" now Emo is more generaly accepted to be short for the word "emotional" which is not to say one is more correct but that the word "emo" has changed over time.
1. A music genre of a typicaly melodramatic, not always depressing but often emotional rock genre, or a softer version of hard-core rock. Describes bands like MCR.
2. A type of indavidual, generaly a teen, who is very emotional. They may or may not listen to "emo" genre & may or not follow the "emo" style (black hair covering one eye, tight dark clothing, wrist bands...) they typicaly wear alot of black but don't have to, but are troubled indaviduals, often with a mood disorder &/or alot of abuse in their past. Some emos cut themselves or self-mutilate, but not all do. some are suicidal, but they don't have to be.
Alot of people would classify someone as "emo" who really is more "poser," or trying to "be" emo, or any other subculture, in order to get attention. (pretending to cut, making a point of wearing "emo" clothing...) This does NOT go for all emos.
3. Anything particularly dark or emotional. Any writing that is particularly anxty or talks about loss, depression, feeling of being alone or differant. The same goes for any form of artistic expression.

2. I have been acting alot more emo since i got into high-school, becasue i have had alot more anxiety, and i find myself wearing alot more black.

And finally, there are types of Emo. There's the mainstream, attention seeking Emos that aren't emos. They give us all the hate. Next, there are the quiet Emos. They are the ones who you might see every day and not know that they are Emo. They usually don't have many issues, but they are the most sensitive, in my opinion. They are the ones who you will say a joke to that you don't believe is offensive, and they will laugh at it, but they will have pain building up inside of them, until eventually it is too much and they cry, and then the next day they're fine again. Now, the general Emo. They are the ones with the black clothing or band T-shirts. The ones who you see smoking weed sometimes, or the ones you hear listening to metal. They usually hang in groups of other Emos, because that makes them safe. They get shit every day, and usually they have issues at home too. NOT middle class bitches with black hair and a black shirt on who slit their wrists because their weekly allowance got dropped from £1000 to £800! They piss me off so much. But finally, the full fledged Emo. The one who will be usually alone most of the time, the one who cries and tries to find someone to care for them but often fails. However, they are the ones with mental problems. We can't control the fact that we have mood swings, or that we are confident or quiet.

Get the Emomug. a small flightless bird from the darkest corners of hot topic. Standing at just below 3 feet, the cry of the emo sounds suspiciously similar to My chemical romance songs. local orithologists believe the reason they are flightless dates back to ancient fossils of emos found with scarred wings, suggesting that they used their claws, which resemble, and still do, razorblades to cut at their wings...even the bones believed to have been the legs were found to be equally as scarred. rare is it to see an emo out during the day. several teenagers around the world have adapted the depressing plumage into their everyday clothing, as if making the emo their mascot

Get the Emomug. Usually jealous teens who cut themselves and complain about how shitty their life is, when really, all they want is attention. People who cant fit in with the outgoing kids and despise preps. Most of them have fun by getting high or drunk because they dont know how to do anything else with their lives. These kids usually cloth themselves in black and ripped up skinny jeans and cake there eyes with black liner. Do not ever befriend an emo for they will do nothing but bring down your mood and drag you with them through their shitty lives.
