A common phrase in the early twentieth century meaning someone who is all over the place whether literally traveling or whose mind is scattered. (See P.G. Wodehouse and Dorothy L. Sayers works.) The saying comes from the bird of the same name which is a wading bird with a drumming display flight. The phrase “like a snipe” evolved over the next 100 years to mean any number of things that are sneaky i.e. long-range sharp shooters and/or girls on the make, or anyone who takes advantage of others in a either a mean or sneaky way.
Example: “You were dodging all over the States like a snipe and we couldn’t get at you.”—Bertie Wooster.

A person that's just snipey. They have that intention to just be a snap all the time. They'll kick your leg to break your lock and laugh and sniped will splash that last bit of water on you from their cup.

Post sniping, also known as trade sniping, is the act of intercepting a trade between two parties by suddenly making a different offer, without giving the other party a chance to respond.
Post sniping goes like this:
1. OP posts something they wish to sell or trade
2. Person makes offer on OP's item
3. Before OP responds, a different person asks what the interested person wants for THEIR item, instead of waiting for OP to confirm if they are interested.
