Design Karaoke™

The term Design Karaoke™ was coined by NCM / Vujj in the end of 2006. As the word imply, Design Karaoke™ is a mix of design and karaoke; of exhibition and entertainment. Design Karaoke™ takes place inside a designed karaoke box, decorated with design furniture and accessories and a karaoke system filled with custom Design Karaoke™ songs and music videos. Design Karaoke™ songs are covers of famous songs whereas the words/meaning has been replaced to focus on design and/or design related subjects. Example below:
WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW (IS DESIGN)

Original by: Hal David/Burt Bacharach
Design Karaoke™ version by: Jesper Larsson
- - -

What the world needs now is design, deeesign
Design's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is design, deeesign
No not just for some but for everyone

Lord we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides
Enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers
Enough to cross. enough to last
'till the end of time

What the world needs now is design, deeesign
Design's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is design, deeesign
No not just for some but for everyone

Lord we don't need another meadow
There are corn fields and wheat fields
Enough to grow
There are sun beams and moon beams
Enough to shine
Oh listen lord if you want to know

What the world needs now is design, deeesign
Design's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is design, deeesign
No not just for some but for everyone

What the world needs now is design, deeesign
What the world needs now is design, deeesign
What the world needs now is design, deeesign
What the world needs now

Design your Universe

An amazing work of art released by Dutch Symphonic Metal band Epica in 2009.
Poser: I fucking LOVE Evanescence!
True metal fan: You've never heard Epica's "Design Your Universe", have you?
Poser: Who's Epica?
True metal fan: (Beats the shit out of the poser)

Design Despair

Noticing the over use of a design style or font in use in popular culture, which leads graphic designers to mental fatigue and despair. Severe cases result in murder/suicides using metal etched Helvetica letting, art deco lamps of slender women holding opaque spheres above their heads and starbursts containing the word 'New'.
Suzi exclaimed "Oh Brad! I just can't get over this Steampunk fad we've got at the moment. It's giving me serious Design Despair. If I see one more flyer using the Coffee Tin font I'm going to destroy (insert any significant cartoon cultural icon) by giving it claws and dripping blood.

design intervention

n. The moment when an engineered design feature successfully prevents a catastrophe.
"That rib on the outside of the blender wall successfully stopped that rogue block of aluminum and probably saved Steven's life. It was design intervention."

design drift

When the original website design wireframes have little resemblance to the finished product due to having too many stakeholders with competing visions of the requirements.
The indecisive client, two new product owners and an offshore technology team led to the website vision spinning off into widening gyres of design drift.

design sprint

When trying to solve a software/UX design problem you sit in a room for 5 days with your asshole coworkers and jerk each other off with fake data you’ve collected from coworkers not on the design sprint team. This leads to making product decisions that affect your entire company - but, even if nobody likes what "solutions" you've come up with management dictates you implement some of them because you’d rather have something to show for sitting in a room

all week than admit it was just a huge waste of time and shareholder money.
Joey is always excited to run the design sprints because it means yet another week of him not doing any real work and the entire company finding out he is a sham.
