It's now more like goths trying to be cute. With horid tutu's and choppy bangs.
Supposedly ironic with their morbid "cute" things.

Get the Emomug. Weed Emo is a microgenre of Midwest Emo that emerged during the 2010s Emo Revival and popularized by the band Mom Jeans. Weed Emo is defined by its pop songwriting and structures while still retaining the unclean vocals, mathy guitars, and DIY production of Midwest Emo. Weed Emo also deals with lighter themes then most underground emo bands. Instead of writing about loneliness or depression, Weed Emo bands may write about romance and breakups, nostalgia, friendships, getting older, etc. Songs also commonly reference both geek and stoner culture (hence the name). Weed Emo is generally seen as a more mainstream friendly (or poseur depending on who you ask) offshoot of modern emo.

the music usually is very emotional hints the name, the music might also deal with topics that people may connect or relate too.
some classic emo bands are :
- Taking back Sunday
- The get up kids
- sunny day real estate
- dashboard confessional
- american football
- Fall out boy (earlier )
- the used
emo is also represented through fashion, some common pieces that emos might wear is studded belts , black skinny jeans, band tees , converse or vans and lots of band/fandom bracelets and choker necklaces ,etc .
and people that are 'emo' can tend to be emotional or sensitive but not all the time.

Get the emomug. The cousin to the Goths, the shy Emo is an interesting and not very well documented species as they tend to hide in their nests. What we do know about them, however, is that they came in many different subspecies that have their own way of living.
It is a miscommunication through what scientists theorized as a translation error that Emos are sad pieces of shit that self harm and wallow in self sorrow all the time, but this is far from the truth. Yes one of the subspecies do tend to self harm and have a higher suicide rate, but there's many others that have happy and healthy lifes and just tend to use the Emo lifestyle.
The sad fact is though, that the Emo population has decreased do to their habitats, band concerts such as My Chemical Romance, being taken away, or more commonly referred to as 'disbanded.' They still have some mating sites like Hot Topic and Panic! At the Disco, but that doesn't change their alarming population change. Scientists theorize that one of the reasons is do to the miscommunication stated above.
When finding a mate to add to their friend group, the Emos use a special mating call that usually sounds like this:
'When I was a young boy...'
'The groom's bride is a...'
'Can you save my heavydirtysoul...'
