Emotional Tofu

(noun): Similar to the food product Tofu which generates no original flavor but absorbs flavor from surrounding products, Emotional Tofu is a person with no actual experience in a topic but knows, or knows of, someone who has experience in a cause, so they absorb their emotion as their own.

Seen mostly in white, middle/upper class, priveledged, Social Justice Warriors when they're trying to justify their political views. Typically identified by using sentences that start with "I have a friend who.."

emotional tornado

A combination of anxiety and emotional distress and their spiral toward a child's inability to self-regulate, as witnessed in children, often during a regular school day. The emotional tornado spins from anxiety, emotional distress and poor self-regulation, followed by greater anxiety and further emotional turmoil. An emotional tornado can wreak havoc on a child's stress response system, impair maturing brain circuits and increase the probability for long-term learning, behavior and overall health.
