Their "patient" is really the entity that employs them, and their job is to control costs and serve the interests of their employer. This ultimately creates a conflict of interest.
1. Insurance company Conglomerated Healthcare dispatched its pod doctor to displace the hospitalist treating the patient, and to quickly turf the patient. The mission was successful, and the pod doctor returned to the insurance offices without the patient ever being the wiser.
