"I would like some Chantilly cream on my chocolate cake." "C'est impossible. That only comes on the mousse." "Can I pay extra?" "Non." "Can I buy one of each dessert, and just have you put the Chantilly cream on the cake." "Non, that's not on the menu." "Fine, I'll just take the cake." (Waiter brings cake with Chantilly cream on it.)

I had to dance the French Tango with that waiter to get a glass of milk (something VERY uncommon in France).
