Butterfly Effect

The theory that even the smallest step one takes in his/her life can change the course of said life immensely. The name of this theory came to be when a Chaos Theory stated: "It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world."

These choices, once chosen, are all examples of the Butterfly Effect and how one of these choices vs. another will affect one's life greatly.

Jay Effect

Basically means that anything that the precious JAY PARK touches turns into gold.
The beginning of the Jay Effect began when a video of Jay b-boying at an event was uploaded on Youtube. Fans were ecstatic because that was the first time that they caught a glimpse of Jay after living many months with Jay withdrawal! They commented stuff like "OMFG! My baby is doing what he loves! Thanks for uploading!" When he was restricted from showing his face, Jay wore a ski mask while battling. One time, one of the uploaders referred to Jay as "famous guy", but fans knew exactly who it was. On every b-boy video with Jay in it, views of the videos and comments shot WAY up. Uploaders of b-boy battles also gained subscribers, thus allowing them to expose the b-boy culture to new fans.
- The day Jay Park uploaded his first video covering Nothing On You by B.o.B, his Youtube ID jayparkaom was Twitter trended by fans. The video had over 1.5 million views in less than a day. JAY EFFECT!
- Full house at Rutgers University event. Jay Effect.
- St1rfryTV reached 10 thousand subscribers and received presents from Korean fans of Jay s. Jay Effect. (In Jay s interview with St1rfryTV, they proclaim that the "Jay Effect is REAL.")
- All of the videos uploaded by Jay thus far have more than 1 million views. Jay Effect.
- His personal Youtube subscriptions have gained MORE attention. Jay Effect.
- Over 21 thousand followers on Twitter (@jaybumaom) in less than 7 hours. Jay Effect.

The "M" Effect

The act of acting like a certain somebody *cough* Trilas Mull *cough* in being a complete asshole and not giving two damns or a single shit about anything anybody else thinks. You're always right and never forget, you're the best.

plethora effect

The "plethora effect" is when kids use words in college application or SAT essays that sound good but they don't really know the meaning of. Sometimes they'll accidentally use thme as words that sound similar but have completely different meanings (for example, accidentally saying homeliness instead of homelessness) or sometimes they'll just be totally wrong. It was given the name a few years ago when someone decided that "plethora" was a 'good SAT word' and everyone started using it in college essays, much to the chagrin of the people who actually read the things. It's basically a result of kids prepping for the SAT and college process too much. (Starting SAT review books in middle school, taking tons of Princeton Review classes, etc.) Can sometimes be helped with the use of spellcheck.

Admissions person 1: "Look at this, this girl's essay is about how 'fragile and venerable' she was as a middle schooler, and how much she's grown."

Admissions person 2: "That's the plethora effect for you..."

Montrose Effect

The Montrose, Akron, Ohio variation of what happens when a Taco Bell or similar low grade chain restaurant appears on empty farmland, immediately followed by dozens of additional chain restaurants and poorly planned strip malls. The result is a traffic clusterfuck on top of a social black hole, on top of an environmental disaster, known in any other place as suburban sprawl.

In every city I visit, there is at least one stretch of highway full of big box stores and crappy chain restaurants--a sure sign that the Montrose Effect has taken place.
