Blue Anon

A derogatory term for Democrats, invented by far-right conspiracy theorists to deflect from the Q conspiracies popularized by social media websites like Gab and Parler, as well as Republican politicians in Congress. Used as a strawman to link plausible opinions, such as President Trump saying he could pardon himself of crimes he committed in office, to imaginary and ridiculous arguments intended to make left leaning people look just as crazy as those on the right.

"If you believe that President Trump is being investigated for tax evasion and misuse of campaign finances, then you must be the kind of Blue Anon that believes there was no widespread election fraud in the 2020 Presidential election, we really landed on the Moon, and that pedophile lizard people run the Post Office. A term invented by right wing pundits to describe a movement that doesn’t exist in order to distract from actual, dangerous fringe movements within the right. It also perpetuates the idea that proven scandals that have affected right wing pundits and politicians are “hoaxes”.

“Hey, bro, q-anon is a real problem. Those guys are super violent and crazy, but we can’t renounce them! They’re our voters!”
