Christians

Originally people who followed the teachings of Christ and his message of peace and toleration and acceptance of everyone rich or poor, man or woman, or any race. Throughout history some have abused this religion for their own selfish needs, False Prophets lieing to Christians and saying something is God's will when in reality it's their own. In turn this has hurt the religion some and its lost some of its followers. True Chrisitians tolerate everyone and try to teach the gospel of Christ to anyone who wants to learn or follow it. They believe in the Holy Trinity, which consists of God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost being three things while at the same time being one. Sort of like a cube is a cube but at the same time its also squares and also lines put together. True Christians try to help out their fellow man any way possible. Weather that be in the form of donations, food problems, medical help, or just needing a friend.

John: "Sure"

This is a neutral definition of the word christianity. Urban Dictionary should be about defining words, not advancing a point of view.

Christianity

Faith system in which the believer follows Christ and obeys His commandments.
Todd believes on Christ and follows Christ's example, therefore Todd is a Christian and part of Christianity

Hitler was not following Christ's example or obeying His commandments. Therefore Hitler wasn't Christian. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing and was not a true subscriber of Christianity.

Some politicians try to use Christianity to justify their actions and/or gain popularity.

Christianity

The belief of God. When you are a Christian, you go to church and read the bible. Some Christians get baptized. According to Christianity, when you die, if you don't believe in Jesus Christ, you will go to Hell. If you do believe in the Lord and are a Christian, you will go to a wonderful place called Heaven where all of your friends and family who are no longer among Earth live. According to Christians, the end of the world will result in God fighting Satin, the Devil.

Christianism

Christianism is a political ideology derived from the conservative religious views of Christian fundamentalism. It holds Christianity is not only a religion, but also a political system that governs the legal, economic and social imperatives of the state.
It would seem Christianism is the dominant theme of the Republican party base.

christianity

Christianity is monotheistic religion which worships one patriachal all-powerful God. The Holy Book of Christianity is the Bible, from the greek word Biblios, which translates to 'Book', although technically the Bible is not one book but indeed 66 books.

There are many different denominations of Christianity, and it is incredibly hard to estimate how many Christians there are in the United States because there is no common belief on what defines a Christian. The most liberal view of everyone who says they are a Christian being a Christian would place the figure around 75%, whereas the considerably more conservative belief that anyone outside your own denomination is not a Christian can place the figure as low as 0.1%.

Denominations sprout from the original idea of Christianity because some phrases from the bible contridict each other, and thus to harmonise this people say phrase A is literal whereas phrase B is symbolic. However, one group might say A is symbolic, but another might say B is symbolic. Thus, there are now hundreds of different denominations preaching slightly different versions of effectively the same source material.

Unfortunately, as Christianity is the 'big' religion of the Western World, it gets a lot of negative press. However, like all groups, Christianity has the best and worst among their number. The Christians who get the most press are the ones who give the stereotypical image of never doing anything wrong, and sitting on streets shout 'REPENT OR GO TO HELL', or something similarly pleasant.

However, many Christians - most, in fact - are decent people who just want the right to practice their own religion, like everyone else (or the right to NOT practice a religion, in the case of some).
Christians believe in a single, patriachal god.
