sadiolus

Oscar the Grouch's flower of choice, since he usually hates to be "glad".

Everyone's favorite green Muppet goes absolutely coo-coo-crazy every spring, what with all da cheery-colorful gladiolus-blooms festooning everyone's front yards and window-boxes on Sesame Street. Then he tempestuously scuttles down to Mr Hooper's store and loudly bawls for sadiolus bulbs, but naturally these plants don't even exist, which of course makes Oscar all the more teeth-gnashingly incensed. Eventually when Maria secretly plants some brilliant-lemon-yellow gladiolus flowers right outside of Oscar's trash can, the blossoms' imperturbably-sunny hue gradually warms Oscar's sulky disposition to the point where he can at least grumblingly tolerate the flowers, and so he is then marginally composed on the subject till next year.
