Get the Obamunism mug.Noun- A political ideology conceived circa 2008 once President Barack Hussein Obama III was elected. Contrary to popular belief, it is not synonymous with Communism or Socialism. It is a culturally far-left economically left-leaning authoritarian ideology. It is an ideology created by leftists who looked at the Scandinavian countries and perceived them to be Socialist despite said countries being self-described as free-market democracies. It advocates for strict gun laws, higher taxes on the upper class, lower taxes on the middle and lower class, open trade, open immigration policies, free college and medicare, and censorship of the press via cancel culture. The latter is where Obamunism is most similar to Socialism, because in both of those government systems, you will be censored and oppressed for having any opinion against the status quo.
Many Obamunists describe themselves as free-market, which would make them neo-liberals rather than Obamunists. But Obamunism is not free-market at all, because a free market would require for the government to have limited to no social programs in order to promote capitalism and competition. Obamunism and Neo-liberalism are currently the status quo, and it is the ideology pushed by people such as Bernie Sanders.
