They can be erradicated by singing the Gilligan's Island theme song.

Earwurm

An earwurm (with a 'u') is a short fragment of a tune that can stick a song inside your head. Not to be confused with earworm (with an 'o'), which is the tune stuck inside your head.

After accidentally hearing the earwurm, I was stuck with Madonna's Borderline inside my head for the rest of the day.
