field general

A field general refers to any player in any sport that, when on the field, acts as a leader for his team. He's the one that others turn to for direction, and often he is the one either calling plays or relaying them from the coaches.

In football, this player tends to be the quarterback on offense and the middle linebacker on defense; both are generally regarded as the most cerebral on their side of the ball.

In basketball, the term is "floor general", and it is almost always the point guard. They are the ones calling plays and directing traffic in transition.
Examples of field generals in football include Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Ray Lewis.

Examples of floor generals include Isiah Thomas, and more recently Derek Fisher and Chris Paul.

Something placed in a movie only so it will sell action figures. Named after General Grievous from Star Wars who was a pointless character in the movie but had four arms and lightsabers which would make him a top selling action figure.

General Betray Us

Proper Noun, Derogatory name for General Petraeus, the United States military commander of the War on Terror. Commonly, liberals associate "Betray Us" with "Petraeus" because of the point that violence is not the American way.
Libertarian or Conservative: "God, I hope that General Petraeus defeats the fundamentalist Muslims of the Middle East."

Liberal or Democrat: "Ugh . . . it's General Betray Us trying to keep fighting. You know that this battle is stupid anyway."

General Powers

"Powers" that are used by a General of the military.
Examples of General Powers can be seen in Command & Conquer : Generals. For example, if you fight hard enough, you may be able to choose the ability to call in an A-10 Thunderbolt strike, call in paratroopers, be able to build new units, and eventually be able to use more devestating weapons such as a fuel-air strike, etc.....at least THESE powers are for the USA General. The Chinese and GLA Generals have their own, all of which are unique and useful in their own merits.
"In the expansion pack to C&C:G, Zero Hour, when you become a 5-Star General, you can choose to upgrade your fuel-air bomb with the MOAB!!"
