A person, typically from the North of England, who adopts a distinctive working-class style characterized by casual sportswear (often tracksuits), flat caps or baseball caps, and a tough or streetwise attitude. Similar to a "gopnik" in Eastern Europe, a chavnik is known for hanging out in groups, enjoying football culture, and often associated with cheeky banter, slang unique to Northern English dialects, and a sometimes rebellious, down-to-earth lifestyle.
