Employee Half-Life

The Employee Half-Life of a workplace is the amount of time it takes for half of a new batch of employees to quit.

An EHL of less than three months is generally regarded as a bad sign in business.

When I first joined Acme Industries, there were five other new employees with me. After about six weeks, only three of us remained, including myself. So Acme Industries has an Employee Half-Life of about six weeks.

irish half day

A half-day holiday / annual leave taken for the first half of the working day (i.e. the morning for a 9-5 job), rather than the second half (i.e. the afternoon). Presumably to sleep off a hangover.

"See you tomorrow guys, I'll be in at 1 as I've got an Irish half day"

Ballz and a half

Unlike the word "Ballz," the term Ballz and a half is both a derogetory and complementary interjection. It is used derogetorally to put more of an emphasis on a situations severity. In a good situation it is used as an expression of joy or excitment

If you were to spill you Dr. Pepper one would scream "Ballz and a half."
However if one were to comletely blow away some guy in a race, one would also sream this.
