This saying is a very widely used proverb and saying in the Black American (Soulaan) community meaning that you are allowing someone to mistreat, manipulate or take advantage of you in some way. Usually repeatedly.

Why are you letting him play in yo face? You know he’s cheating on you and this is the 10th time.

You see how she’s always trying to embarrass you in front box the manager. She’s playing in yo face.

Play It By Era

From March 2020 till today, we’ve been in the play it by era. So many peoples’ plans have changed due to COVID we have all come to think of plans as a quaint idea of the past.

Our wedding invitation went out to 150 people. Only 45 RSVP’d, and on 35 of those people showed up. That’s how it goes in the play it by era.
