adj. Prohibited and violating social custom or sacredness, and thus not to be spoken of or disturbed. If someone mentions, defiles, or profanes something taboo, they likely will be frowned upon, shamed, or cursed.

n. A subject or entity which is taboo.

Taboo subjects such as racism and murder are widely considered inappropriate and evoke strong emotional responses.

The taboo of anti-Semitism has been ingrained in my mind, so I am annoyed by it being used as a plot device in so many movies.
