The art of initiating a Slack conversation with a co-worker, typically based off of a previous conversation with a different co-worker.

I was looking for information on that project, but thankfully Sam Slack-a-lacked it to me.

Slack circle

When several people mute a channel on Slack in order to avoid notifications on a specific topic, but people writing about the topic are aware that several people have muted the channel. So they post it in another or several other channels about it, which will also end up being mutated. Each iteration of this circle will increase the number of channels those people will need to post to and the number of channels being mutated by the majority.

- "The only messages we ever have in the 'news' channel is Sarah's weather comments."
- "I know, I muted that channel!"
- "Yeah me too, but she realized that a lot of people did. So now she post on the 'news' and 'random' channels to be sure her comments are seen."
- "Oh no, I'll mute this one too. It's the Slack circle" 😞

Bill was thinking about a new project idea while on the move. He quickly opened his mobile Slack app and sent the idea to his team. Later, in an email, Bill asked his team whether or not they had viewed his slack-umentation.
