In anime/hentai (and predominantly weeb culture) a trap is a bishounen male character who dresses or looks effeminate to the extent they are physically attractive even to straight men, often also referred to as 'tomgirls', 'sissyboys' or 'femboys'.
In western culture traps refer to trans-women in bar-culture as trans-women who 'pass' and often times are mistaken by heterosexual men for biological women, which often leads to mixed reactions upon discovery when the heterosexual man 'picks them up at the bar'.
Another western aspect for a trap, is the act of 'trapping'; which is a form of 'bait and switch' where a heterosexual male is tricked into having sexual relations or engaging in permisquous activities with either a gay male or a trans-woman.
