Penguin Wave

When one waves with his elbow at someone when he/she only has one arm partially free and lacking the full range of motion to complete a full wave.

It is a deeply meaningful gesture showcasing the depth of commitment the waver has for the wave receiver; faced against all odds of completing a true hand wave, the waver still tries and does the next best thing.
A person carrying a bag and talking on the phone sees a friend passing by, he penguin waves with the elbow on the phone-arm.

whoopsie wave

When you wave to someone you know and another person intercepts your wave mistakenly as if you are waving to them, e.g. caught in the crossfire of your wave.
I was waving to Eddy at the show and Phil thought I was waving to him. Awkward... Phil waved back to me as he was caught in a whoopsie wave. It's almost as bad as when Jim invited me to lunch, thinking I was Tony because his phone contacts were screwed up resulting in Jim texting me with an invite.

mis-wave

To wave to somebody you thought was someone you knew but really you just waved to a complete stranger. That complete stranger gives you a look of dismay not for the wave but for the enthusiasm and excitement you conveyed along with your wave.
Who the heck was that person waving to me like he knew me. It must have been a mis-wave. What a jackass!
