hard of understanding

A play on the phrase "hard of hearing". Often said as "acting hard of understanding".

1. Pretending like one doesn't understand or feigning ignorance, especially if the topic is simple; disingenuous; goofy; playing dumb

2. A reproach for someone who completed a request either incompletely and incorrectly, usually out of laziness: especially if the task was simple or explained several times; stupid

3. A reproach for someone who is only half listening and giving inappropriate or no response

4. Hard-headed, stubborn

Joe was asked to bring in the groceries, he brought in those from the trunk but pretended not to see those in the back seat. Joe claimed he didn't think those where meant to be brought in to which Sara accused him of being hard of understanding.

The time has come to define what everyone in the majority of the emo subculture (I don't know what the minority is, I'm just a guy lmao) says.
You're saying this, because...and these are individual options that will likely make up with you...
1). You feel like a social outcast
2). You're having daddy issues (least common)
3). You feel no one loves you, or even gives a single shit about you (most common?)
4). You're trying to fit in (see also: poseur)
5). You're trying to be ironic
6). You're trying to be as non-mainstream as possible (rip scene kids lol)
7). You're clout-chasing
8). You're horny. (LEAST common)
9). You have a role model who says it
10). Some other arbitrary reason that likely makes up with this definition even though it probably has nothing to do with you

Poseur: "No one understands me..."
Legitimate emo: "Are you challenging me?"
Scene chick: "wtf is happening...xd"

The difference between justification and understanding

Oh we understand it now! That a thing we understand now because the violence is being directed in the way we want the distinction is a thing we accept now.

My goals are beyond your understanding

The sentence coming out from the mouth of 1980's-born parents when they're to enforce screen time limits to their Gen Alpha-born digital native kids, who are just yet to receive any sound explanation about the negative impacts of excessive screen time.

Whenever I try to explain why I need to limit my kid’s screen time, I end up just saying, 'My goals are beyond your understanding', because they just can’t grasp the dangers of too much digital exposure!
