Republic

A system of government ran by ellected officials. Not a rare system of government at all. Republic by definition does not imply a concern for human rights or an inclusive democratic system. It just means that a governing body (aristocracy, military, general population, etc) ellected a head of state. Republics are by no means rare and are not necsessarily short lived. In fact, of the almost 200 currently existing soverign states in the world currently, roughly half of them are republics. And the republic of San Marino has had a life span of roughly 1700 years.

Republicans pounce!

A headline in a newspaper or other article that describes Republicans (or other right-leaning individuals) attacking a Democrat (or other left-leaning individual) when that Democrat commits a misdeed. Always written by a reporter with left-wing political views, it will attempt to frame the Republicans as overzealous, and will either downplay, ignore, or excuse the Democrat's misdeed. Commonly done by the New York Times or Washington Post, it is often viewed as a sign of the bias within the media.

People's Republic of Pineland

Used in Army Special Forces community as the ficticous name for about 14 or 15 counties of North Carolina.

While going through Special Forces training the final element is a several week long exercise called Robin Sage. It takes place in these counties of N.C. During the exercise you plan and carry out operations as though you're in the imaginary People's Republic of Pineland. The exercise starts with a parachute infiltration of Pineland followed by a series of exercises training "guerillas" operating in the area.

Every once in a while a soldier going through the SF Q course will accidentally interact with a local who doesn't realize their in Pineland. But most of the locals in the community will particiapte in the exercise playing civilians and are aware the Army uses the area they live in for training. A local sherrif once shot a couple soldiers who thought he was part of the exercise after they tried to bribe him with Pineland money.
Soldier 1: how ya doing buddy?

wide stance Republican

A closeted gay Republican who rages against LGBT rights in public but gets their same-sex freak on in private. Named after Senator Larry Craig's defense of his solicitation bust, i.e. that he has "a wide stance when going to the bathroom."
They busted another wide stance Republican...yeah, this congressman got busted trying to pick up a rent boy in some leather bar.

Republicrats

A derogatory term which combines the words "Republican" and "Democrat" that is used to generalize the two parties as being incompetent to hold public office in which they were elected or appointed to. Whereas, they have ignored their oaths to protect the Constitution of the United States of America and serve not the citizens in which they represent, but rather themselves, family members and wealthy corporate or private financial contributors.
taxpayer #1: "Hey Mark, who are you voting for in the primaries this year?"

taxpayer #2: "Well it won't be any of those Republicrats with those million-dollar ad campaigns."

taxpayer #1: "Yeah, I think it's time for America to wake up and realize there are many more parties to choose from."
