ornerythologist

A cranky researcher who find the study of birds to be insanely tedious.
In the September 5, 1981 Doonesbury comic strip, former US Secretary of the Interior James Watt is shown to be a classic example of an ornerythologist, in that he doesn't see the difference between endangered species of birds and the super-plentiful pigeons --- "Birds are birds, I say. That's what I mean by extremism!"
